Timothy Cardinal Dolan
February 26th, 6pm Mass
Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha parish is pleased to welcome Cardinal Dolan to our parish. He will be celebrating the Sunday evening Mass on February 26th. He had to change the original date of February 18th because he will be in Rome that weekend receiving his Red Hat, the symbol of the Cardinal, from Pope Benedict XVI. We are truly honored to have him celebrating Mass here just after coming back from Rome.
He has a prior commitment in the Cathedral that afternoon so our usual 5:30pm Mass will start at 6pm on February 26th.
When the Cardinal visits a parish for Sunday liturgy it is either for a special parish event such as a 100th Anniversary or dedication of a new building, or just to celebrate a regular Sunday liturgy in one of the parishes. In our case he is here just to celebrate a regular Sunday evening Mass, especially because he was told it is a Teen Mass, and the Teen Group meets after Mass.
As a result, the Teen Group (+TLC+) will be participating in all the parts of the liturgy. While the Mass will be open to all parishioners, only the Teens and the adults working with them will have reserved seats. We have invited Teen Groups from other Dutchess County Parishes, since our group would like to have more interaction with the other groups. We have also invited our 7th and 8th graders. These groups will have reserved seating and will be invited to the reception. All other parishioners will be seated on a first come, first served basis. Please be respectful of our Teen Ushers who will be directing you.
Please understand that, because of the nature of the Mass, our teens will act as servers, lectors and musicians. Our Archbasilica Teen Music Group has been practicing and sounds great- we have over 20 teens playing instruments and singing. The teens will present His Eminence with a Spiritual Bouquet and list of suggestions of how the Church can address the needs of teens living their faith. I am sure this will be a great celebration for all those in at-tendance.
The Poughkeepsie Journal will be live-streaming the Mass for those who want to see it from home.
